Privacy policy

Gnome Pirates doesn't collect any personal information. This page explains exactly what that means, for players and for the grown-ups who look after them.

Dame Garnet

The short version

Nothing leaves the ship

  • The game collects no personal information at all.
  • No ads, accounts, subscriptions or in-app purchases.
  • Nothing goes online: no analytics and no tracking.
  • Voyages are saved only on your device, where we can't see them.
  • The sticker pack is just pictures. It can't read your messages.
  • If you email us, we use what you send only to reply.

Who we are

Gnome Pirates is a sailing adventure for iPhone and iPad, made by Steven Schweitzer ("we", "us") for children of about seven to ten.

This policy covers the game, its Messages sticker pack and this website. It explains what happens to information when you use them, or when you get in touch with us.

What the game collects

Nothing. Gnome Pirates does not collect, store, share or sell any personal information, from children or from grown-ups.

  • There are no accounts or sign-ins, so the game never asks for a name, age, email address or password.
  • There are no ads, subscriptions or in-app purchases.
  • The game never connects to the internet. There's no online play, no chat and no way to contact other players.
  • It contains no advertising, analytics or tracking code, ours or anyone else's. It doesn't use your device's advertising identifier, and it doesn't track you across other apps or websites.
  • It doesn't ask for access to your location, camera, microphone, photos or contacts.

What stays on your device

The game keeps up to four saved voyages so it can pick up where you left off: story progress, items, gifts, collections, ship upgrades, outfits and Canal Cup best times. It saves automatically as you play.

Those saves stay on your iPhone or iPad. They are never sent to us, and we have no way to see them.

If you use iCloud Backup, or back up your device to a computer, iOS may include your saved voyages in that backup along with your other apps. That backup is handled by Apple or by your computer, not by us.

To clear a voyage, choose Start Over on the start screen and pick the voyage to replace.

Stickers and game controllers

The Messages sticker pack is a set of 33 pictures and nothing else. It can't read your messages or see who you're talking to, and it doesn't collect anything. Stickers you send are delivered by Apple's Messages app.

If you play with a game controller, iOS handles the connection. The game only reads the buttons you press.

What Apple shares with us

Gnome Pirates comes from the App Store, and Apple handles the download and any payment. We never see your name, your Apple Account or your payment details.

Apple does give developers some information about their apps:

  • Download and sales numbers that don't identify anyone.
  • Crash reports and basic usage statistics, but only if you've chosen to share them. You can turn this on or off on your device in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements › Share With App Developers.

This information doesn't tell us who you are. We use it only to find and fix problems in the game. How Apple handles it is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

If you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach, such as a screenshot. We use them only to reply and to help with your question.

We don't add you to a mailing list or use your email for marketing, and we never sell or share it, unless the law requires us to. We take reasonable care to keep it safe.

Because Gnome Pirates is made for children, we ask that a parent or guardian write to us rather than a child.

This website

This website has no cookies, analytics, ads or tracking, and no forms to fill in.

Its fonts come from Google Fonts, so when a page loads, your browser asks Google's servers for them. Google receives your IP address and basic browser information when that happens, as described in Google's Privacy Policy.

The company that hosts this site may keep ordinary server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, for a short time to keep the site running and secure.

Children's privacy

Gnome Pirates is made for children, and the game collects no information whatsoever. It never asks for a name, age or email address. It has no accounts, ads or analytics, and it never connects to the internet, so it has nothing to collect and nowhere to send it.

That's true for every player, including children under 13, the age covered by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Your child's saved voyages stay on their iPhone or iPad, and we never see them.

If your child has a question for us, please write on their behalf rather than letting them email us themselves.

Your choices and rights

Because the game doesn't collect personal information, we don't hold anything about you from playing it. Your saved voyages are yours to keep or delete on your own device.

We don't sell or share personal information, as those terms are defined under California law.
